Lanterns Arts has now secured a new space within its current premises to house our new Studio and Theatre project. The space will be used for Performance, Rehearsals, Workshops and Classes. The space will house Lanterns School of the Performing Arts giving the students opportunities to experience a stage and professional performance with lighting, sound and technical facilities. We will also be able to accommodate other performance based companies in the future who will give our students further access to the classical and commercial performing arts.At present, plans are being finalised and building work will begin from March 2011, when we will be removing the low ceiling to create a space to accommodate maximum height for performance, lighting and set.
Provisionally, the space will be converted to house a new Studio, a Studio Theatre space, music room, changing facilities with showers and WC and
refurbished kitchen facilities. The space will allow Lanterns to develop and expand on its current successful departments, as well as facilitating new areas of study including Drama, costume and a wider range of musical studies.
Lanterns also hope to offer the space to the community for local schools, drama groups, photographic and gallery space, project based work and to other to local groups seeking community performance facilities.
